El Empleo es un corto de 2008, hecho por Santiago Bou y Patricio Plaza, Argentina. En él no hay palabras, pero tampoco hacen falta. Su discurso es claro y contundente. Daría para horas y horas de debate acerca del tema que a todos nos afecta: el trabajo. Jugando con lo surreal, ironiza con la realidad del trabajo como algo que nos enajena, nos aleja del ser personas para convertirnos en objetos funcionales. Exagera este mensaje con tanta fuerza que, sin pedirlo explícitamente, llama a la rebelión, a reclamar el derecho a la personalidad. Es por esto que las personas son retratadas como gente sin ilusión, cuyo trabajo les convierte en objetos útiles para los demás, incapaces de valorar lo bueno de su utilidad, o lo bueno que obtienen con el trabajo de los otros. Actuan como peones sin voluntad propia. Sus miradas son grises, no hay pupila, son como un agujero hueco y vacío que muestra su interior. El mensaje llevado al límite.
¿Positivo o negativo? Cualquier ser humano es consciente del propio crecimiento personal en el trabajo y de la satisfacción al obtener resultados: un sueldo, éxito profesional, una grata acogida del público… Pero, como todo, el mismo trabajo vivido sin sentido, sin ilusión, sin afán de superación, puede convertirse en nuestra mayor desgracia. No podemos olvidar que somos dueños de nosotros mismos y que, al fin y al cabo ésto es sólo una metáfora. La vida real es mucho más bella y rica en matices. Piensen, señoras y señores, piensen!
The Employment is a 2008 short animated film made by Santiago Bou and Patricio Plaza, Argentina. In this film there aren’t words, but this is not necessary. The message is so clear and heavy. It would take lots of hours discussing of the always trending theme: the job. Making surrealistic the real life, this film satirizes with the job as something that alienates us, drives us far of the “being a person” to make us functional objects. Is so exaggerated the message that, even without words, it calls us to the rebellion, to reclaim the human right of having personality. Is this the reason of the retreat of the people as people without illusion, whose job makes them useful objets for the rest of the people, unable to value their own utility, or the benefits of the other’s job. They act like pawns without will. Their eyes are grey, like an empty hole that shows their soul. This is the message taken to the extreme.
Is it positive or negative? Any person knows his own personal growing at work and the satisfaction of getting results: a salary, sucess, a good welcome by the public… But, like everything, the same job lived without sense, illusion or self-improvement, can become into our greatest misfortune. We can’t forget that we own ourselves and, finally, this is just a metaphore. The real life is prettier and richer in details. Think, ladies and gentlemen, think!
